Finishes Tied 6th with a total score of 277
Jaipur : Prakhar Asawa of Rambagh Golf Club, Jaipur, showcased his prowess at the newly-launched National Golf tournament, the Gurgaon Open 2024, held at the Classic Golf & Country Club in Nuh, Haryana recently. Asawa, along with other top Indian professionals such as Manu Gandas, Rashid Khan, Aman Raj, Karan Pratap Singh, Sachin Baisoya, and Udayan Mane, competed against a field that also featured prominent international names.
Amidst challenging wind conditions and tricky pin positions, Asawa displayed unwavering resilience, finishing tied for 6th place with a total score of 277 after carding a level par 72 on the final day. Prakhar started the round with 2 bogeys and later recovered, finishing level par with 3 birdies and 3 bogeys. In a remarkable show of accuracy and consistency he carded -3,-3,-5 & Par during 4 days of gruesome golfing conditions and made his presence felt at the highest level of golf in the country. This has been by far one of the best performances by any golfer from Rajasthan for a long time now.
Bengaluru’s M Dharma emerged as the winner, commanding the leaderboard with a four-under 68 on the final day, securing a five-shot lead with a total score of 270. Prakahar shared the 6th position along with Rahil Gangjee, Udayan Mane, Rajiv K Jatiwal, Tapy Ghai and Sachin Baisoya.
The prominent foreign names in the field included Sri Lankans N Thangaraja and K Prabagaran, Bangladeshis Jamal Hossain and Badal Hossain as well as rookies including PGTI Qualifying School winner Matias Dominguez of Chile, Nepal’s Subash Tamang, Italy’s Michele Ortolani and Czechia’s Stepan Danek.
