Jaipur : Dhara Shakti Foundation (DSF) organised a free health camp and a menstrual hygiene management workshop for over 350 women.

The day long camp organized by DSF in Kot Jewar, Dudu tehsil is a village which is renowned for its exquisite blue pottery. The initiative addressed the crucial health concerns and raised awareness about menstrual hygiene amongst 350 women in the community.

Rajasthan is one of the states which is gravely affected by anaemia. The results from the previous medical camp, organised by the foundation, confirmed the same. The health check-up revealed that more than 50% of the women were anaemic. Thereby, highlighting the need for immediate action. To this effect, the foundation has decided to organise more health camps, which include physical examination of the individual, blood sugar level check, thermal check-up, weight & height check, blood pressure and blood test to check the haemoglobin (Hb) levels, for women and adolescent girls. In addition, it was realised that a large number of adolescent girls from rural areas of India lack awareness about issues related to menstruation and maintaining personal hygiene. To give some light to the issue we organised a one-day health camp in the village to empower and raise awareness.

The day long camp was a multitude of activities including, an interactive session in which we demystify myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation, educate women about menstrual hygiene practices. We have also distributed reusable sanitary kits which consist of 3 pads that lasts for 2 years that reduces the financial burden of disposable sanitary pads. Individualized consultations with doctors have been provided to women with personalized assessments of their reproductive health, addressing any concerns and offering necessary guidance. In the camp we distributed iron tablets to participants, contributing to their overall health and well-being.

“Women are the backbone of our communities, and their health and well-being are paramount. Through this camp, we hope to not only address vital health needs but also break the silence surrounding menstrual hygiene, equipping women with the knowledge and tools to lead healthy and empowered lives.” Devika Shekawat, founder of Dharti Shakti Foundation.

We believe that healthy women and girls play a crucial role in equipping the leaders of tomorrow to create a positive change in their own societies and communities: “We are delighted and proud to partner with Marudhar Hospital, Jaipur, Project Baala, Kamla Craft Foundation. The initiative aligns with Dharti Shakti Foundation's mission to promote holistic well-being in rural communities, focusing on women's health and empowerment. By collaborating with local stakeholders and healthcare professionals, the organization strives to create a lasting impact on the lives of women in Kot Jewar, fostering a healthier and more empowered future for generations to come.” Devika Shekawat, founder of Dharti Shakti Foundation.
